Room 503, Saturday Mid-Afternoon

Dōjima had listened to radio once she got up (late) this morning.

Dōjima was currently suppressing the desire to bang her head against the wall.

Red was an idiot.  Clearly, confronting her at work was giving Rikku 'time'.  Maybe she'd go throw a dictionary at his head later.  That might be amusing. 

Firing off a quick text message to Rikku, she tossed her phone on the nightstand and walked over to crack the window open just a bit, letting in some fresh air as she set about doing some spring cleaning.   Going through her clothes and getting rid of last seasons' stuff might be a fun distraction, since it meant she could go shopping later.

"Maybe you just aren't using it right," she countered. "And don't discount 'stupid sentimental' reasons! I still have my first teddy bear, you know. Just because I don't sleep with it anymore, doesn't mean I can just throw it out."

Yurika was perfectly happy to talk about all the normal, stupid crap she could think of, if it would keep him from brooding. "Maybe I should get you a bear, as a substitute for your toy. But yeah, it's a deal."

"Eh, don't worry about gettin' me a bear, yo. Stuffed animals are more a--" Rikku. "--last-weekend kinda thing anyhow."

Reno went quiet for a moment while he wrestled his expression into something more neutral.

"Haven't called my buddy Rude since I was five. Boss gave him so much shit for not lettin' him know that I had me a girl, yo. Rude doesn't need that kinda crap."

"I don't understand why he cares who or what you do in your downtime, but whatever. I'm just going to smile and nod," she said.

"At least you were a cute five, I hope Rude was at least a little amused. I mean, I'd be amused if people I knew were suddenly tiny." Yurika shrugged slightly. "You might wanna give him a call, just to let him know you aren't tiny anymore. You don't have to tell him about everything else, if you don't want to."

"But yeah, you're right. I should at least tell him I'm thankful he at least tried to save my ass."

Reno had to laugh at that.

It was good to laugh. He hadn't had a good chuckle since he was five.

"You know, I bet Rude'd love that," Reno smirked. "Which is exactly why I'm cuttin' both of you off here and now before you even get introduced, zoto."

Reno grinned and shrugged his shoulders.

"Maybe I'll take the posse road-trippin' to Edge sometime. Ain't as dirty as Midgar was, and you gotta check out the Seventh Heaven. Damn good bar."

Rude, Reno figured, would like the excuse to hit up Tifa's bar.

"I'm starting a collection, you know," she said seriously. "I'm trying to go to as many bars in as many worlds as possible. It's my new hobby." Mainly to 'explore' the ladies' room, but whatever.

"We'll start a list of places we need to go. Maybe we should just blow off one of the summer sessions, and spend two months completely wasted. You're only young once, right?"

"Two whole months might be tough to swing," Reno mused. "I took a crapload of leave time just a year and some back. But hey, we get a break between one term and the next, right? Week or two? We gotta get ourselves totally freakin' smashed durin' that, at least, yo."

"But no more tattoos, we're done with those for the year," Yurika joked. "No one's told your boss about your newest bit of bodyart, have they?"

"And no, that was not a suggestion to add it to the report. Mooning him would fall under the 'stupid idea' category, in case you were wondering."

"It'd be real freakin' tempting, though," Reno mused. "Tseng's got no clue that I got a chocobo on my ass, and it's probably gonna stay that way until, I dunno. Maybe if I'm around this place long enough to graduate, I'll moon him when I go to get my diploma, yo."

"You better stay around to graduate, yo, or at least come back for the party. Do you have any idea how boring graduation would be if we don't raise some hell?" she asked. "Come on, caps and gowns? Pomp and circumstance? Screw that."

"Besides, if you moon the crowd, I'll make sure someone takes a picture of your boss's face. As a trophy."

"Damn, Doji. If I had a photo of Tseng's reaction to that, I'd freakin' spend the money to have someone put it on a billboard."

He tilted his head, considering.

"You call that a dare, and if I'm around long enough to deal with stupid square caps and ugly robes, then I'll make it a point to show the entire graduatin' class my ass next year, zoto."

There was a silence, then, as Reno seriously considered his next words.

He paused, mulled it over, and then smirked.

"I watched you drunkenly wark and wiggle your way around the tattoo parlor, remember?" Yurika giggled as she poked lightly at his hip. "Just because I was currently under the needle doesn't mean I wasn't paying attention. It was easier to watch you than to think about what I was doing."

She grinned wickedly. "No one told you? I had them ink 'My name is Reno. If found, return to Fandom High' on the other one. They gave us a two-for-one deal."

"Hey now, I was the sober one that day, and I still thought it was a good idea," she reminded him. "None of us were exactly the picture of restraint that week."

"But yeah, maybe pacing yourself wouldn't be a bad idea." Yurika shrugged slightly. "I know I'm guilty too, as is Romeo. I'm pretty sure he spent most of his time-travel adventures wasted off his ass."
