It had started with the teleporter, but now half of the Walled City population was missing. The Chief was gone, so was Hattori, and SOLOMON didn't seem to know what Yurika was talking about when she called in, claiming that the STN-J had always been a branch without a civilian police liaison.
Now Sakaki had not reported for work this morning, and there was no sign of Michael-kun anywhere in the building. Karasuma and Amon had gone out to try and find their junior Hunter, leaving Yurika alone in the building to try and run down leads.
Someone was taking out Hunters, Seeds, and Witches alike and then covering it up, and she was damned well going to stop it. Forget being a Hunter and sticking to protocol to solve this; She was Agent Dōjima Yurika, Class B Hunter and Intelligence Operative, and she wasn't stopping until someone (or something) was on the receiving end of her gun.
[OOC: For one, but open for calls/texts/etc.]

"Miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiichael~kun!" Dōjima was possibly throwing a tantrum that would make the most spoiled Kardashian proud. "Why haven't you gotten me the files on the teleporter yet? I asked for them yesterday, and I can't move forward with the case unless you upload them to my phone! I'm not some genius who can guess your passwords!"

She had found Robin.
Yurika was just going to glee a little bit more about that. She had found Robin!
...okay, Robin had found her, and she hadn't been at her best, but still. The little pyro was alive. Sakaki was back in the office, albeit on crutches, and Karasuma and Micheal were up to full speed. She hadn't been able to convince Robin to come back, but now she had a search area to go with.
Which meant Yurika was taking the damn night off. Point of fact, she had threatened to cook for whomever called her phone before tomorrow afternoon. She and Romeo were going out, dammit, and this was possibly the most unusual date they had come up with.
And the most entertaining.
"Tonight's mystery ingredient is.... PEPPERMINT CANDY! Allez cuisine!"
Yurika just grinned and leaned back in her seat. "This is awesome."

To say that Dōjima was less than thrilled with the outcome of last week was an understatement.
"Do you even understand what the term 'non-lethal' means?" she hissed angrily into her phone. "You were ordered send in two teams - two, not three - one to lead the Hunters on a chase, because they would chase intruders, and one to secure the files and server data. Instead, you disobeyed my direct order and shot-up my team, because you thought you knew best."
"Now Sakaki's got a broken leg, Karasuma-san's collarbone got dislocated, my hacker is bruised to hell, and you even shot the office assistant, the chief inspector, and the doorman. And do not start with the rubber bullets crap, because I saw some of those anti-Witch bullet casings on the ground. This was my op, and we do not shoot people. Now I'm down two Hunters who are missing, possibly dead in a ditch somewhere, and up a very paranoid administrator. And it's your fault."
"You're incompetent. I want a new handler." There was stuttering on the other end before Dōjima broke in again. "No. Father Juliano will accept no excuses, and neither will I. You almost cost us this entire operation. Call into Headquarters and ask for reassignment, or I'll do it for you. Your choice."
With that, she angrily snapped her phone shut and flopped back against her park bench with a sigh. Idiots. She was surrounded by idiots, and now she was going to need to pull double-duty as a Hunter until Amon or Robin was recovered, and that would eat into the time she needed to be spending on her mission.
Fuck it. Maybe she'd go to Fandom for New Year's, and let everyone else sort the office out while people were still in the hospital. She'd get Sakaki a stuffed gremlin or something.

It was a few hours later that Yurika walked out of the Tokyo police station that dealt with immigration cases, getting into her car and pulling out her earpiece.
( Oh, Michael? It's me. )
Robin had not been the target; this had not been a Hunt.

Yurika had gotten a call in the dead of night from a frantic Miho, summoning her back to the STN-J office immediately.
Robin had been attacked at her apartment, and Tōko was in the hospital. Karasuma and Sakaki had arrived just in time to help Robin fend off the shooters, and now the little nun was being taken back to the office to sleep, since her home was no longer safe. Yurika had tried to persuade Miho that Robin could come and stay with her and Romeo, but Karasuma was unwilling to risk a civilian in the line of fire now that they knew someone was targeting Robin, especially someone who didn't mind resorting to kidnapping or shooting innocents.
At the scene were more anti-Witch bullets, the same as before.
( From Dōjima and Romeo helping me trace that bullet, we've narrowed it down to these three people )
A few phone calls later, and Dōjima was down in the garage, starting her car. One to Romeo, telling him to stay away from the office until this was all cleared up, and to carry his gun. Then once she was out of the STN-J garage, another to a number not programmed into her phone.
"Charlie, this is Worm. I need two squads, non-leathal weapons. We have a chance to hit the STN-J directly and raid Zaizen's office, but I need you to move fast..."
Whoever was after Robin had just given her the perfect cover for a raid against the office. Everyone would assume it was a Hunt of some sort, and Zaizen wouldn't be able to stop it until it was too late. The truth about the Orbo was almost close enough to touch, and Yurika's hand strayed to the pendant around her neck. Soon.
[OOC: Plot and text adapted from 1.15, "Time to Say Goodbye." Yes, I did just infer my spygirl is responsible for the events shortly to be posted. MWHAHAHAHA.]

There had been an Inquisitor, sent from Rome, in Tokyo. Zaizen had, of course, ordered the Chief to keep all Hunters and support staff away from the man, except for Robin and Amon, who were to be his escort. Karasuma and Sakaki were sent out to bring in the subject. Ditzy Dōjima, of course, was sent to investigate other Witch sightings and scope out some locations, keeping her loud-mouth as far from the Inquisitor from Headquarters as possible.
Which was perfectly fine with Yurika, as she had no desire to get anywhere near someone from Headquarters who could possibly ID her as one of Juliano's operatives.
It had apparently gone as well as could be expected, although a Hunt order had soon been served on the man the Inquisitor had supposedly been sent to appraise as a potential Hunter. More disturbing was the fact that the priest had apparently been Robin-chan's Inquisitor, and Yurika knew damn well that there was no such thing as coincidence when Juliano was involved.
Things had gone back to normal after that, or at least as normal as they ever were at the STN-J. Dōjima was still looking for her slippery-Witch target, one she was beginning to doubt existed, and so she'd brought along a friend. Or, rather, a boyfriend. On her investigation. In her defense, it made her look less like a cop, and more like someone's worried sister looking for a family member. But even Hunters and their assistants needed to eat, and eventually they'd headed back to the STN-J, where there was usually take-out from Harry's laying around.

It had been a frustrating forty-eight hours inside the Walled City, trying to find-and-catch the 'electric eel' Witch. Robin had stolen evidence, the Factory had been less-than forthcoming, and the residents hadn't exactly been welcoming of the Hunters' presence in their enclave.
It had ended with a bunch of dead yakuza thugs, Sakaki nearly getting toasty, and Dōjima needed a new pair of shoes. There was something stuck to the bottom of her boots that she didn't want to identify.
Although honestly? She'd enjoyed herself. Going on a real Hunt and having a tangible result was nice after almost a year of dead-end leads on Zaizen. She was just sorry that Robin and Sakaki had gotten the real fun.
She'd actually skipped the celebratory drinks at Harry's to head home instead, and fling herself through the door to the apartment. "Ohaiyo! I'm hooooooooooome! Can we order pizza? I'm starving!"

Normally it would be a bit early in the season, but Hanami was almost in full-swing at Ueno Onshi Koen, and Yurika couldn't pass up the chance for a picnic. She'd even put on her favorite blue sakura-patterned yukata for the occasion.
"The night-viewing won't start for another few days," she said to her companions as she spread out the blanket. "But the cherry blossoms are already off to a good start, ne?"

The best part of prepping for a sting operation, Dōjima had decided, was the fact she got to go home for lunch, to see what sexy outfits she had in black to pose as a bar waitress.
Sometimes, being a spygirl was just plain fun. She sincerely doubted that Master's son was going to be stupid enough to show his face around Harry's, but at least it would be a fun few days of tips and cute patrons. And all she could drink.
"Hey, koibito," she called, sticking her head out of the bedroom and holding up two (almost identical) black halter tops. "Which one of these says 'tip your waitress?'"

Dōjima was still a bit sulky that she hadn't been able to go back to Fandom this weekend. Father Juliano -- via her unnamed, unseen contact -- had expressly forbidden it for some reason. A reason that hadn't been shared with her.
Still, she was home now, a pile of files on previous Hunts spread out over the couch as Alea 'helped'. She was supposed to be looking for patterns.
Instead, she was dialing her phone, wanting to see what everyone else was up to tonight. Even if she had to be alone with her work tonight, the others could spare a few moments from their weekend to entertain her, right?
She had no idea.
[OOC: If you think your phone would ring? It so, so is.]

In retrospect, the whole thing had started off absolutely fascinating. And it still was, in a morbid sort of way, but after two days of no sleep and less food, it had crossed the line from weird-but-cool to weird-and-creepy.
Yurika had gotten one of the four a.m. phone calls that were starting to become so common, but instead of turning it off and going back to bed, she'd actually made it into the office by 5:30, fighting her way through Tokyo morning traffic. She'd apparently just missed being sent out with the field team, but Yurika was still glad she'd gone in. Otherwise she would have missed out on a case worth working.
( An eye can threaten like a loaded and levelled gun )
Which brought her to now. Yurika had just stumbled in the door to the apartment, not even bothering to get her shoes off before finding the couch and sprawling out in an inelegant tangle of limbs. Ugh. She was starving, but food was totally unappetizing after, well, burning human flesh. And to top it all off, she wasn't quite sure what day it was.
And then the damn phone rang again. Miho's ringtone, which meant she shouldn't ignore it.
Yurika flipped the phone open. "Moshi moshi," she sighed. "What's up, Karasuma?" There was a pause. "He WHAT?"
"No, no, just. I mean, how many people turn into dust? Are we sure they aren't pulling one over on us?"
"No, I don't trust the men in strange suits who edge away from me and act like I'm contagious. I'm a Hunter and a Seed, not a mass murderer."
"Eh? Miho! Ikezu sen toitee na! That's not nice! It's not my fault the delivery boy won't come to the office anymore! If Sakaki hadn't...."
"Haaaaaaai. I'll see you later." Yurika flipped the phone closed again with a sigh and flopped backwards. If the phone rang at four in the morning ever again, she was ignoring it.
[Dialogue taken & twisted from episode 1.03, Dancing in Darkness. Open for boyfriend, calls, texts, etc after the phone conversation with Miho.]

It had started out like any other Wednesday morning at the STN:J, complete with a missing Dōjima, who hadn't even bothered to show up for last night's Hunt. Sakaki was still sulking, much to Karasuma's amusement and frustration, and morale around the office was decidedly low, Kate's absence hanging over them like a shadow.
( 'Dōjima still isn't here.' 'We can't do anything about it, she's special.' )

One of the more entertaining side-effects of this, Dōjima had decided, was the ability to call into work pretending to be her father and inform the Chief that "Dōjima wouldn't be in today," and not get yelled at or threatened with firing. Not that he could fire her, but it was nice not to need to hear the tirade again.
Now she had an entire day to go over old case files she'd swiped from the office, a nice big cup of tea, and was totally ready to be Super Spy Girl, and start looking for inconsistencies in case data.
...after this game of Wii Baseball. Honest. Dōjima wanted to see if being a boy changed her score at all.
[Yeah, I can't help myself. Open for calls, texts, boyfriend, etc.]

Dōjima hadn't gone back to work on Wednesday or Thursday after her trip to Disney, instead using the days to get readjusted to the time difference that was Tokyo.
She was also supposed to meet someone during that duration. Someone who had not showed. Or called. Or signaled her in any other way. To say Yurika was...disquieted, as she went into the office today, would be an understatement. Still, her smile was bright and demeanor chipper when she flounced in, arms laden-down with Mouse Ears for everyone.
"Ohaiyo!" she sang, skipping over to plop a hat on Michael's head before twirling about to find her next target. "You missed me, I know, but I come bearing gifts!"
( The four glum faces that greeted her, however, stopped her in her tracks. )
Frustrated beyond all belief, she parked near a local playground and got out to go sit on a bench, cell phone in her hands. It was deserted this time of day, like always, and she'd have to call Father Juliano eventually with the bad news. Somehow, she doubted Zaizen had informed Headquarters that one of his own Hunters had gone Witch quite yet.
Today sucked.
[NFB due to distance! If you think you got a call or want to bug the spygirl, go for it, but she's probably going to liiiiiiiiiiie to you like a sneaky lying thing.]

Admittedly, Yurika was not a morning person, but there was really no excuse for an intelligence operative not to notice something like that, regardless of how early in the morning it was.
Luckily it didn't take her long to clue in, and she climbed back into bed as soon as she was off the phone, snuggling up with the other person occupying the space. "I'm calling in," she muttered, nuzzling at Romeo's neck. "You're sick."
"Mmmmmph?" Romeo was blissfully asleep, or almost. He turned to kiss her and tell her not to be silly, when he realized something was different. Good thing last year had given him an idea what it was.
"Am I a girl again?" he asked, without opening his eyes.
"Mmmm...not sure. Maybe I should check," she giggled, taking the opportunity to snuggle closer and kiss his (her) nose. It was a cute nose! "But yeah. Pretty sure you're a girl again, koibito-mine."
".... and you want to stay in bed." He opened an eye and looked down his body. "I think that's an excellent idea, love."
"Not necessarily!" she objected, pouting at him slightly that he would assume such a horrible thing. "We could go out. Later. Try that new seafood place down the block, and maybe go dancing..."
He was too cute to hide away, seriously.
"But later. Definitely later."
"Much later," Romeo agreed, and rolled over to kiss her. He only got to do this once a year, after all; he had to make the best of it.
It was only a little unfair she wasn't a boy this time.

It was quarter after eleven when Dōjima came sauntering into work, blowing the doorman a kiss as he laughed and made her way up to the fourth floor, singing the latest top-ten hit loudly and mildly off-key.
"Dōjima!" Cue one very short, balding man, planting himself in her path and absolutely fuming "Do you have any idea what time it is?"
"Hai!" she saluted, taking out her cell phone to check. "Eleven-ish. Wow, Chief, you better cut back on the coffee. You're looking awfully stressed out for this early in the morning!"
Karasuma and Kate-sama were doing their best not to laugh, Amon was glaring as if he could kill her with hisemo brain, Michael was outright snickering, and the New Kid was staring as if he couldn't believe his eyes.
He probably couldn't, especially considering how cute her miniskirt was today. It was Romeo's favorite, after all.
"And HOW many times do I have to tell you to dress appropriately for work? This is a law-enforcement agency, young lady, not a club! Your image reflects upon the work of the STN-J, and -- "
"Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaai!" she replied, cutting him off mid-rant as she waltzed over to her desk, tossing her purse on the chair and starting to rummage in a drawer as Kosaka sputtered and fumed. "Come on people, you've got five to get in your lunch orders from Harry's, my treat."
"And grab your coat, New Kid. You're on pick-up duty with me."
"Ano, my name is Sakaki..."
"That's nice. Shake it, Newbie!"
Some days, Dōjima really, really, loved her job.

"Hai!" she saluted, taking out her cell phone to check. "Eleven-ish. Wow, Chief, you better cut back on the coffee. You're looking awfully stressed out for this early in the morning!"
Karasuma and Kate-sama were doing their best not to laugh, Amon was glaring as if he could kill her with his
He probably couldn't, especially considering how cute her miniskirt was today.

Dōjima had spent most of the weekend fighting with her phone - with Moshi - before figuring out that the little brat had a phone of her own, and all Dōjima's calls and texts had been routed to that.
She would kill her, if she didn't need her so much.
Which is why Dōjima was now curled up on the floor, poking away at the little pink cell, nose wrinkling in frustration as she tried to explain to Tōko why she hadn't answered the other girl's numerous texts about Amon standing her up last night.
"Hey, Mosh? You have any games on this thing?"
[Open for calls and such, sure, but may vanish at any time. SP is win.]
[OOC the 2nd: Okay, people, if I can see an unsecured internet connection, and it lets me in just fine but then gives me "Local Only" access, is there any way to fix that, or am I doomed to sitting in coffee shops all week? Because I think the barista is about to decapitate me.]

Room 503, Tuesday Afternoon
Jun. 16th, 2009 08:34 amIt was a beautiful day outside, so Dōjima had propped the door and windows of her room wide-open as she worked. She had two cardboard boxes set out on her bed; one labeled 'Rikku' and the other one 'Reno', and she was currently attempting to see how many packets of ramen she could fit into Reno's box. Any packing of her own was being studiously ignored; school wasn't over yet, and Rikku and Reno were much more important.
And with Reno, it wasn't like she trusted him to remember to eat. Besides, there was an awesome recipie tucked in there, along with the dehydrated bacon, and some horrible horrible eye-searing romance novels.
Rikku's box was, admittedly, bigger, due to multiple birthday gifts that needed to be sent to Spira. She hadn't called her friend, since she hadn't been sure how dates matched up between the worldsand the player was AFK that night, and if Rikku had picked up the phone, Yurika probably would have yelled at her for not being out living it up.
Sometimes, Dōjima was a very bad friend. But only in the best ways.
[Door and post are open! ETA: (un)Shockingly, thread with Romeo went NWS.]
