Wreck it Down

Romeo had ordered his vodka tonic mixed at double strength, and he tossed back half of it in a single gulp before he was even fully settled in the booth.

He'd been drinking a lot, since the hunt yesterday. Smoking a lot too, and his smiles were forced even after his conversation with Reno provided some reassurance.

"So I suppose it's time to make merry," he offered, sounding anything but.

"Hey, with enough sake, you can make just about anything you wanna," Reno mused, leaning back and shrugging. "Merry can be on that list, yo."

Reno had been drinking a lot since the hunt, too. But that wasn't anything new, for Reno.

"I can try to help with the merry," Rikku announced, ordering something strong and frou-frou from their waiter. "We can talk about what everyone else is wearing and why they shouldn't be."

This, from the girl who had thought all the people in the Harajuku district looked pretty awesome.

At least her current outfit matched, thanks to Dojima. Shopping had been fun. And had helped with the repressing, yes.

"So you think they should all be naked?" Romeo teased. "That's rather a different sort of club, Rikku."

"The cover charge is a whole shitload higher in those kinda joints," Reno agreed, sticking out his tongue and grinning.

"Does naked mean no jewelry?" Rikku asked, sticking her tongue back out at Reno. "I mean. People get dressed up fancy and if you were all naked, everyone would kinda look the same, right?"

Romeo just eyed Reno for a moment, not sure if he should even try to answer. "I wouldn't say that," he finally supplied.

"For one," Reno added, "I won't blend in naked. I have a chocobo on my ass."

...

He eyed Romeo back, shrugged, and then smirked at Rikku. "And we wouldn't be the ones pullin' off the clothes, zoto."

"I didn't mean that," she said huffily. "I meant, you know, people like showing off their expensive whatever accessories, and you don't get to deck yourself out at a nude club. It's a girl thing, okay?"

She took a healthy swig of her drink. "And besides, you can't always tell with guys, if they're just ... hanging out. Now, if they were checking out the hot girls, maybe."

Romeo blinked rapidly. Rikku was Not Allowed to talk about things like that, and he just needed to process it for a moment before --

"I don't think it would be such trouble to find a hot girl in a nude club, but I wasn't really thinking of one where we'd be naked, either."

Someday, Romeo would go to a real nude beach and be sorely disappointed.

It was about then that Dōjima finally arrived, climbing the stairs and hopping the velvet rope to join them.

"You're looking at the newest member of the STN-J," Yurika said, flopping down into the booth. "Who did so badly in her exam that she's been registered as a D-Class Hunter. I would be ashamed of myself, if I wasn't so proud of how thoroughly they all bought it. Suckers."

"So, what have I missed?

"We were just about to educate Rikku about the intricate technicalities of strip clubs," Reno mused, waving an idle hello to their fourth musketeer. "But we can table that conversation if your horrible almost-failure means we get to order more booze, yoto."

Romeo grinned up at her. "We were discussing if you can wear jewelry in a nude club," he deadpanned. "And congratulations on almost failing. I think that calls for another round."

"We started drinking without you," Rikku explained. "And guys are all the same. Strip clubs and porn and girls that look like aliens 'cause they're not real. Honestly."

Logic went out the window when she got mildly tipsy. And she was.

"Hey, don't knock the girls in the strip clubs. I hear that's a great way to stay in shape," Dōjima replied as she reached over to steal someone's drink. "I'd kill to have legs that nicely toned."

"In all fairness, Rikku was the one who started talkin' about how some people just shouldn't be wearin' their clothes," Reno pointed out, helpfully. "If you gals want, I can front the school money to get stripper poles installed in the common rooms or somethin'."

"They're supposed to be excellent for exercise," Romeo shocked himself by saying. "And of course it would be free entertainment."

"If you boys think you're getting a free private show, you've got another thing coming," Dōjima teased. "Rikku and I are much more expensive than that, thank you very much."

She glanced out at the crowd, grinning. "That one, that one, and that one," she selected cheerfully. "They'd be pretty without their clothes."
