Romeo quite possibly elbowed her as he tried to get out of the bed himself. The coffee had soaked through a sheet covering a rather sensitive part of his anatomy and he needed to get away before it scalded him.
He let out an impressive string of archaic curses as he tried to get his pajama bottoms off.
"You wouldn't think," he said, when he was standing there naked, "the coffee would still be so hot."
