Room 503, Saturday Mid-Afternoon

Dōjima had listened to radio once she got up (late) this morning.

Dōjima was currently suppressing the desire to bang her head against the wall.

Red was an idiot. Clearly, confronting her at work was giving Rikku 'time'. Maybe she'd go throw a dictionary at his head later. That might be amusing.

Firing off a quick text message to Rikku, she tossed her phone on the nightstand and walked over to crack the window open just a bit, letting in some fresh air as she set about doing some spring cleaning. Going through her clothes and getting rid of last seasons' stuff might be a fun distraction, since it meant she could go shopping later.

"Dare," she said automatically. "It's a promise, too, and I don't make those lightly.

"Dare, promise, all adds up to I almost feel sorry that the crowd's gotta look at my pasty white ass, but damn, it's so freakin' worth it."

There was a silence, then, as Reno seriously considered his next words.

Serious, serious consideration.

"Bonus points if I say "Wark" while I do it, yo."

"Add in a quality ass-wiggle, and I buy your drinks for the week. Rude's too, if he comes, since it's cruel of us to force him to watch that."

"Rude better show up for that," Reno snorted. "Ain't every day your best buddy graduates from High School. 'S like I'm growin' up, or some kinda shit like that, yo."

He paused, mulled it over, and then smirked.

"Ass wiggle? You're on."

"Quality ass wiggle, or the deal is off," she warned. "No half-assed, pun intended, wiggling. I want to see some artistry!"

"Clearly, you ain't never seen a Reno ass-wiggle before." Reno grinned and gave his butt a little shake, there on the bed. "There ain't no quality like Reno quality, zoto."

"I watched you drunkenly wark and wiggle your way around the tattoo parlor, remember?" Yurika giggled as she poked lightly at his hip. "Just because I was currently under the needle doesn't mean I wasn't paying attention. It was easier to watch you than to think about what I was doing."

"If nothin' else, at least I make a damn effective distraction, yo." He smirked for a moment more, and then gave a bit of a sigh. "I drink too damn much. Should work on that before I wind up with a 'Property Of' tattoo on the other cheek, yo."

She grinned wickedly. "No one told you? I had them ink 'My name is Reno. If found, return to Fandom High' on the other one. They gave us a two-for-one deal."

"Hey now, I was the sober one that day, and I still thought it was a good idea," she reminded him. "None of us were exactly the picture of restraint that week."

"But yeah, maybe pacing yourself wouldn't be a bad idea." Yurika shrugged slightly. "I know I'm guilty too, as is Romeo. I'm pretty sure he spent most of his time-travel adventures wasted off his ass."

"Absinthe with the Bohemians of a hundred years ago," Reno agreed, nodding slightly. "Shit. I was almost tempted to say yo to one of them angels and then turn around. Sounded like one hell of a place, yo. Nice postcards."

He was almost grinning again as he continued. "And I think they lied about the two-for-one deal, yo. Must've used a marker or somethin', because I could totally sit on the other cheek that week an' everything."

"You just couldn't feel it because the tattoo is so large, your ass probably went completely numb," Dōjima deadpanned.

"You know, I still haven't seen this postcard, I'm rather jealous. You get hot dancing girls, I get a 'happy birthday' card. So not fair. It was my birthday, I should have gotten dancing girls."

"Well, then I guess it's safe to say that Romeo loves me more," Reno said, managing to keep a straight face as the words left his mouth.

It took a whole two seconds for him to totally crack up afterward.

"Bite me, Red." Dōjima rolled her eyes and reached out to smack him lightly against the back of his head. "Here I didn't think he was your type."

Reno took the swat to the back of the head in stride.

"You know, you're right. He's too... somethin'. I'll think of it, jus' give me a moment, yoto."

He tilted his head. He considered.

"Oh yeah. Male."

"See, you've been limiting your Friday night fun right there," she teased, "Eliminating an entire gender is just short-sighted, silly."

"I'd tell you what you were missing, but, well, mine." Dōjima shrugged unapologetically. "I'm not very good with sharing."

"You know, I'd be more concerned about missin' out on that Friday night fun thing if it weren't for the fact that me an' Rik-"

Oh. Yes.

"Friday nights are overrated anyhow, zoto."

"Yes, well, we all know that your favorite day is Tuesday, when the squirrels give you the good gossip and the rum," she joked. No, Yurika hadn't missed the slip, but she could pretend.

"I still think that's creepy, I really don't wanna know how those rodents know everything. Damned little voyeurs."

"Normally, I like the little rats. They give me booze, I can deal with that, yoto." He was smiling again. Pretending was very appreciated, yes. "I only really got a problem when their snoopin' for the news gets me assaulted afterward."

Dōjima smiled angelically. She could pretend for as long as he needed. "Why Red, I have no idea what you're talking about. Assault is such a strong word, I like to think of it as corrective encouragement."

"Yes, well, until they start giving me booze as a bribe for prying into my private affairs, I'll stick with creepy."

"I'm pretty sure the booze is for employees only, but I could probably sneak you a bottle of rum now an' then to make up for their voyeurism, yo."

He paused, looking around the room suspiciously.

"They better not've heard that, or it'll be on tonight's broadcast and the whole damn island'll be expectin' one."

"No, they won't be expecting one, because you love me more than them, and that's why I get booze. Besides, I'm cuter, entertaining, and I bring you terrible microwaved noodles. That means it's your sacred duty to provide me with rum, get me wasted, then point and mock my hangover." To Dōjima, this makes perfect sense.

"That last part makes it all worthwhile," Reno smirked, then picked another leaf off of his jacket and studied it. "Though I'm thinkin' your hangovers could learn a lesson from mine, yo. Ever wake up in the woods with one, wonderin' what the hell you were thinkin' the night before?"

"Woods? No. Wrong city? Yes." Dōjima shook her head and grinned. "Although I don't have to wonder what I was thinking. I occasionally remember at least part of it, I just have to wonder why I thought it was a good idea."

"Eh, other cities, I do all the time. 'Kalm? How the hell'd I end up out in the middle of the asscrack of nowhere?' That ain't a stretch." He stuck the leaf into his pocket and shrugged. "Takes a special kinda stupid to brutally torture a laptop, though. Even if the damn thing was pretty much askin' for it all week."

"We're in the asscrack of nowhere right now, if you think about it." Yurika grabbed one of the many leaves he had shed and flicked it into the air. "We're in America, in one of their backwards little states. Hardly the cradle of civilization. But yeah, you're a special, shiny kind a stupid, Red. You're lucky you're just so damn entertaining."

"So, you gonna tell me why the laptop was asking for it, or am I going to have to guess? You seemed pretty determined to fix the thing, earlier."
